Cardiff City are advancing toward securing centre-back Krystian Bielik from West Bromwich Albion on a permanent basis, addressing an urgent defensive shortage at the Welsh club.
The 28-year-old Polish international featured in 17 Championship matches for West Brom during the previous campaign as the Baggies finished 21st in the table, narrowly escaping demotion to League One. His arrival would represent Cardiff's fourth senior addition of the summer transfer window, following goalkeeper Nathan Trott, midfielder Jack Moylan, and left-back Calum Scanlon, who returned to the club on loan from Liverpool.
Bielik's career has spanned multiple European and English clubs since joining Arsenal from Legia Warsaw in 2015. He subsequently had loan or permanent moves to Birmingham City, Walsall, Charlton Athletic, and Derby County before signing with West Brom last summer.
The signing comes as Cardiff faces a significant injury crisis in defence.
