Gabriel Martinelli has departed Arsenal to join Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal in a move valued at an initial £60m, bringing an end to his seven-year tenure with the English side.
The transfer comprises a fixed fee of £60m alongside a sell-on clause. Martinelli, aged 25, has committed to a long-term contract with Al-Hilal, who currently sit joint-top of the Saudi Pro League alongside Cristiano Ronaldo's Al-Nassr.
The Brazilian forward originally arrived at Arsenal from Ituano in 2019. He retained 12 months on his existing Emirates Stadium contract, but manager Mikel Arteta had communicated that the player did not feature in his tactical plans for the forthcoming campaign.
Martinelli's departure follows a period of transfer speculation surrounding the forward. Earlier in the summer, Galatasaray had submitted a €45m offer for the Arsenal attacker, though that interest did not materialise into a completed deal. The move to Saudi Arabia represents a significant shift in Martinelli's career trajectory after establishing himself as a regular performer in the Premier League.
Arsenal have been active in the transfer market during this window, having completed a £75m acquisition of Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle, with the midfielder becoming the club's second-costliest signing in their history behind Declan Rice.
