Manchester City have secured midfielder Enzo Fernandez from Chelsea for £125m on transfer deadline day, equalling the joint-British transfer record and capping an extraordinary summer of spending for the club.
The deal, completed on Tuesday, 1 September, represents City's second record-breaking signing in two months following midfielder Elliot Anderson's £116m arrival from Nottingham Forest in July. According to reports from the transfer market, the move was described as a British-record-equalling transfer, matching the £125m that Liverpool paid for striker Alexander Isak on the same deadline day last summer.

Fernandez, 25, had been keen to join Real Madrid earlier in the summer but the Spanish club ultimately ruled out making an offer.
