Ollie Cooper is set to leave Swansea City, with the Wales midfielder expected to join a League One club on a season-long loan. Swansea head coach Vitor Matos said an agreement is already in place with a club to sign Cooper, although the move has not yet been finalised.
The 26-year-old academy product has made 118 first-team appearances for Swansea and scored nine goals. However, he made only one substitute appearance under Matos in 2025-26 after a season-long loan at Wigan Athletic was cut short in January.
Cooper was allowed to leave last September after struggling for game time under former boss Alan Sheehan, but he managed only 13 appearances for Wigan. His contract at the Championship club expires next summer, so the move could also signal the end of his time at Swansea.
Why is Cooper expected to move on?
Cooper has not had enough minutes to remain in Swansea's plans, and Matos said the midfielder needs regular football at this stage of his career. The club has already agreed terms on a loan with another side, but the transfer is still waiting to be confirmed.
