Kasper Hogh has four caps for Denmark.
Bodo/Glimt striker Kasper Hogh is due to have a medical with Celtic in the next 24 hours, with Scottish champions manager Martin O'Neill saying the move is progressing. The 25-year-old Denmark international has been linked with Celtic for several months, and reports say a club-record £11m deal has been agreed with the Norwegian club.
O'Neill was asked about the deal after Saturday's 2-2 draw with AC Milan in a pre-season friendly at Celtic Park.
“Yes, I'm hoping that that will happen,”
“I think there's a good chance of it.
He added that the transfer was not yet complete and that some details still had to be settled.
“But, until someone's actually signed and sealed, there might be things still up in the air, but it's certainly progressing.”
When asked directly about reports that Hogh was due to have a medical, O'Neill said the move was close.
“Yes, apparently so. He will have one in the next 24 hours, I think.”
News of Hogh's expected arrival will ease some of the pressure on Celtic's board and manager after Saturday's sale of fan favourite Daizen Maeda, with the Japan forward moving to Ipswich Town.
Celtic have made just one signing this summer, although Colombian forward Camilo Duran has scored three goals in three warm-up games so far. The club have also been strongly linked with Paderborn midfielder Mika Baur.
Asked whether signing the 22-year-old German was also possible, O'Neill said he could not say for certain.
“That, I genuinely can't tell you. I genuinely cannot tell you at this minute.
“I've been preparing for this game. I'll see where we are tomorrow and things.
“We've got a few other things in the pipeline that might come to fruition, which would be great for us.”
What does Hogh's arrival mean for Celtic?
Hogh's expected move would give Celtic a significant boost after losing Maeda, while also increasing their attacking options ahead of the new season. The club have been working through other potential deals as they continue their summer recruitment.
Who else are Celtic being linked with?
Celtic have also been strongly linked with Paderborn midfielder Mika Baur, but O'Neill would not confirm whether a deal was realistic. He said he would know more after looking at the situation the following day.
