Matt Walker, who led Kent to titles in the County Championship, T20 Blast and One-Day Cup, has been announced as Sussex's new head coach for the 2027 season. The 52-year-old will take charge on 1 November, when he succeeds Paul Farbrace, who is moving into the role of Sussex's new Director of Cricket.
What is Walker’s background?
Walker spent eight seasons as head coach at Kent, where he guided the club to promotion to Division One in 2018, T20 Blast success in 2021 and victory in the One-Day Cup in 2022. His spell with Kent included major white-ball and red-ball achievements across his time in charge.
Where has he coached since leaving Kent?
Walker has also worked in the England men's set-up. He is currently batting coach at Warwickshire and assistant coach with MI London, formerly known as Oval Invincibles, in The Hundred.
