Van der Gugten Reaches 100 Appearances for Glamorgan
Bowler Timm van der Gugten has expressed pride in reaching 100 appearances for Glamorgan and has ambitions to remain with the club for the foreseeable future.
Van der Gugten has taken over 260 first-class wickets during his decade-long tenure at Glamorgan. His 100th match milestone was marked during the current County Championship game against Warwickshire.
The 35-year-old, who was born in Australia and represents the Netherlands internationally, joined Glamorgan in 2016 and currently holds a contract extending through the 2027 season.
"Glamorgan took a little bit of a punt on me and I'm obviously very grateful for being at the club for 10 years," van der Gugten told Wales.
"When I first came over I'd only played a handful of first class games.
To play 100 games for them is a real honour - I'm really proud about it to be honest.
My life is over here now – I've got a young family and wife - and I love Glamorgan and I love Cardiff.
Hopefully there's a few more games left to go."
Career Background and Future Plans
Before joining Glamorgan, van der Gugten played Australian domestic cricket representing New South Wales, Tasmania, and the Hobart Hurricanes. Since signing with Glamorgan in 2016, he has become a key player for the Welsh county side.
Van der Gugten’s current contract runs until the end of the 2027 season, and he has expressed a desire to extend his stay in Wales.
"I'd be keen to keep playing for as long as I can, I don't really envisage going anywhere else," he said.
"We'll see what happens but hopefully I can stay for the long haul.
I'm happy with how I'm bowling and enjoying my role with the team.
We've got a nice mix of youth and older players and it's a very enjoyable changing room to be in at the moment."
