Glamorgan Hold Out for Draw
Glamorgan managed to hold out for a draw on a placid pitch in Cardiff despite Leicestershire securing a first-innings lead of 146 in a contest between the two promoted sides.
Leicestershire had 69 overs available to bowl Glamorgan out, but the hosts reached 137-2 with ease before the match concluded with a draw at 17:00 BST.
England Lions opener Asa Tribe led Glamorgan's resistance, remaining unbeaten on 67 runs.
Leicestershire's Strong First Innings
Earlier, Leicestershire amassed 586-7 declared, with Jonny Tattersall scoring 112 and Ben Cox finishing unbeaten on 68.
The hybrid pitch surface did not facilitate rapid scoring for most batsmen, resulting in extended periods with limited excitement.
Day Four Progress
Leicestershire began the day with a 60-run lead but started cautiously as Glamorgan employed tight fielding, with Kiran Carlson and Andy Gorvin maintaining pressure.
Jonny Tattersall reached his first century for Leicestershire in only his second game since transferring from Yorkshire, reaching 100 off 191 balls with six fours.
However, Tattersall was soon dismissed, caught off Carlson after attempting to accelerate his innings following a 104-run partnership with Ben Cox.
Ben Cox recorded his third consecutive innings of 50-plus runs, including a previous score of 162 against Surrey. Despite the dismissal of Ben Green early in the innings, there was no significant acceleration before Leicestershire declared at 12:32 BST, leaving 69 overs remaining.
Australian opener Jake Weatherald retired hurt on 104 due to cramp and did not resume his innings; Leicestershire did not require his return or a substitute.
Glamorgan's Second Innings
Eddie Byrom continued to struggle with form, falling lbw to Josh Davey for five runs. Zain Ul Hassan showed patience, facing 80 balls for 29 runs before being dismissed by Ben Green, who induced a defensive shot that resulted in Ul Hassan being bowled.
Despite this, taking eight wickets in the final session proved challenging for Leicestershire's bowlers.
Josh Hull delivered a fierce spell of short-pitched bowling, which resulted in Kiran Carlson being struck painfully in the ribs.
Asa Tribe was largely untroubled after overcoming early difficulties against Ajaz Patel's spin bowling. Carlson remained unbeaten on 28, while occasional spinners Stevie Eskinazi and Rishi Patel also bowled during the innings.
Current Standings and Upcoming Fixtures
Both Glamorgan and Leicestershire have recorded two draws and one defeat in their first three matches since returning to Division One, with Leicestershire extending their points lead over Glamorgan to five.
Leicestershire will host Nottinghamshire, the reigning champions, in their next match starting Friday, 1 May. On the same day, Glamorgan will undertake a rare County Championship visit to Hampshire.
