Tom Norton bowls for Glamorgan

Tom Norton and Ned Leonard are missing from Glamorgan's Metro Bank One Day Cup opener against Sussex at the Gnoll, Neath, on Wednesday, 22 July. Norton is sidelined by an unspecified injury suffered in England Under-19s training, while Leonard has not played for six weeks because of a shoulder problem.

The absences are a setback for Norton's progress after he took a hat-trick and a five-wicket haul in his first month in the Championship team. They also open the door for several new faces in Glamorgan's squad for the match.

Who has been called up for the first time?

Connor O'Riordan has received his first call-up after being selected as an Australian fast bowler who has had extensive trials for the second team. England Under-19s wicket-keeper/batter Harry Wallace is also included for the first time in a senior squad, while young batters Callum Nicholls and Jack Hope-Bell could make competitive debuts.

Who is missing and who is being rested?

As expected, veterans Colin Ingram and Chris Cooke are rested, while Billy Root is a surprise absentee. Experienced seamer Timm van der Gugten is in the squad despite a heavy workload.

Andy Gorvin will lead the side for the first time in the absence of regular skipper Kiran Carlson, who is among five players involved with The Hundred franchise tournament. Glamorgan won the competition in 2021 and in 2024, and David Harrison, who was in charge for the first of those triumphs, will again guide Glamorgan's efforts while a host of players are occupied with The Hundred.

What does the squad look like?

Glamorgan's squad for the match is Hurle; Gorvin (capt), O'Riordan, Nicholls, Morris, Hope-Bell, Ul Hussan, Smale, McIlroy, Horton, Van Der Gugten, Franco, Wallace, Douthwaite, Byrom.
