England Revise Batting Line-Up for T20 World Cup Warm-Up

Wicketkeeper Amy Jones, who previously batted at number three during the series against India, has been promoted to open the innings for England in their T20 World Cup warm-up match against Australia in Cardiff.

England have dropped Sophia Dunkley from the opening position. Dunkley’s place was under scrutiny after accumulating 98 runs across six innings in the recent series against New Zealand and India, with her highest score being 26.

Despite the change, both openers struggled early in the match. Jones was caught at mid-off for two runs, while Danni Wyatt-Hodge was bowled after scoring four.

Captain Nat Sciver-Brunt was moved into the top six, taking Dunkley’s place by batting at number three. This marked Sciver-Brunt’s first international appearance of the summer. Meanwhile, the in-form Alice Capsey retained her position at number four. This batting order is expected to be maintained for England’s tournament opener against Sri Lanka on Friday.

Sciver-Brunt is participating as a specialist batter as she continues to recover from a calf injury sustained earlier.

Australia won the toss and elected to bowl first at Sophia Gardens, the venue where England will also face India in their second warm-up match scheduled for Wednesday.
