Jos Buttler became the all-time leading run-scorer in T20 cricket as Manchester Super Giants beat Welsh Fire by nine wickets in The Hundred at Old Trafford. The England white-ball great passed Kieron Pollard's record of 14,803 by launching the first of three consecutive sixes off Marco Jansen, and finished with 51 from 20 balls as Super Giants reached their target of 156 with 31 balls to spare.

Buttler reached the milestone at Old Trafford by hitting the first of three successive sixes off Marco Jansen. The 35-year-old ended with back-to-back sixes down the ground off Lockie Ferguson to finish the chase in style.
He struck two fours and six sixes in his 51 from 20 balls, while Tim Seifert made 62 from 36 balls. Cricket statisticians include The Hundred data in T20 records, meaning Buttler now has 14,833 runs in the shortest formats.
What did Welsh Fire make after winning the toss?
Welsh Fire chose to bat after captain Phil Salt won the toss, an uncommon decision in the competition. Salt and Matt Short shared an opening stand of 125, giving Fire a strong platform before the innings slowed late on.
Salt scored 48 from 37 balls and Short hit 71 from 47 deliveries. The pair combined for 11 fours and five sixes before Salt was caught in the deep off Josh Tongue from the 83rd ball of the innings.
His dismissal started a collapse of four wickets for 13 runs. Short was caught at long-on off Paul Walter, while Jordan Cox and Tom Kohler-Cadmore also found boundary fielders off Gus Atkinson. Fire finished on 155-4, with Atkinson taking 2-12 and Cook 1-20.
How did Manchester Super Giants take control?
Manchester Super Giants began strongly with a 74-run opening partnership in 35 balls between Tim Seifert and Paul Walter. Walter, in his first match of the tournament after Aiden Markram withdrew for personal reasons, made 37 from 18 balls.
His innings included a run of five consecutive boundaries off Duan Jansen and Rachin Ravindra. The home side eventually removed him after Ben Kellaway produced an excellent piece of fielding on the mid-wicket rope, throwing the ball up as he stepped over the rope and stepping back on the field to collect it.
Super Giants did not slow down after that breakthrough. Seifert finished unbeaten on 62 from 36 balls, Buttler remained not out on 51 from 20, and the side won by nine wickets to move into third place, four points behind Fire in second.
