Two Charged with Murder of Eight-Week-Old Baby in Lincolnshire

Two Charged with Murder of Infant

Liam Neve and Lauren Murgatroyd have been remanded into custody following their appearance at Lincoln Magistrates' Court.

Two individuals have appeared in court charged with the murder of an eight-week-old baby. The infant was taken to hospital and subsequently died after police were called to a residence in Bourne, Lincolnshire, in October 2023.

Liam Neve, 26, of Spinney Close, Grimoldby, Louth, and Lauren Murgatroyd, 26, of Novak Place, Morecambe, have both been charged with murder along with several other offences, according to Lincolnshire Police.

The pair appeared before Lincoln Magistrates' Court earlier and were remanded into custody ahead of a hearing at Lincoln Crown Court scheduled for a later date.

Additional Charges

In addition to the murder charge, Neve faces four counts of assault, making a false statement concerning birth, causing or allowing the death of a child, and two counts of causing or allowing a child to suffer serious physical harm.

Murgatroyd is also charged with two counts of assault, making a false statement concerning birth, causing or allowing the death of a child, and two counts of causing or allowing a child to suffer serious physical harm.

Investigation Statement

Det Ch Insp Andy McWatt said: "We have continued to investigate this tragic death since 2023. This has been a complex and large-scale investigation, and we are now in a position to charge two individuals in connection with the incident."
