Three individuals have admitted involvement in an arson attack targeting the offices of a Persian media organisation in north-west London. The incident, which occurred on 15 April at the premises of Volant Media in Park Royal—parent company of the London-based broadcaster Iran International—resulted in no injuries after the fire was quickly extinguished.

At the Old Bailey, Nathan Dunn, 19, pleaded guilty on 21 August 2026 to arson being reckless as to whether life is endangered. Oisin McGuinness, 21, had previously entered a guilty plea to the same charge of arson. He also admitted dangerous driving and possession of the Class A drug cocaine, with the court accepting all three pleas.

A 17-year-old boy, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, denied the charge of arson being reckless as to whether life is endangered but admitted the lesser alternative offence of arson. The prosecution rejected this plea, and he will stand trial on 1 February 2027.

Both McGuinness and Dunn, residents of Watford in Hertfordshire, were remanded in custody. The 17-year-old was remanded into local authority care.

What happened during the attack?

An ignited container was thrown towards the Volant Media offices in the Park Royal industrial area. The fire immediately extinguished after the container landed in a car park adjacent to the building, preventing any escalation of the incident. According to the Committee to Protect Journalists, three men were arrested following the April 2026 attack on the premises of Iran International, a Persian-language broadcaster.

Why was the broadcaster targeted?

Iran International is a news organisation whose journalists regularly face threats and intimidation from the Iranian regime. According to , Iran International reported that a suspicious vehicle had been refused entry to the site shortly before the arson attack and described the episode as part of escalating threats and intimidation. Counterterrorism officers were involved in the investigation, though the case was not initially classified as a terrorism matter.

What are the next steps in the case?

The 17-year-old defendant will face trial beginning on 1 February 2027. Sentencing dates for McGuinness and Dunn have not yet been scheduled. The case had previously been scheduled for a three-week trial starting 25 January 2027, though the guilty pleas have altered the proceedings.

The arson attack on Iran International's London offices occurred amid a broader pattern of arson incidents across the capital. In March 2026, Jewish community ambulances were set alight in Golders Green, with four men subsequently appearing at the Old Bailey charged with arson. An 18-year-old was later charged with assisting an offender in that incident. Additionally, arrests were made following an arson attack at Kenton United Synagogue in Harrow in April 2026, which caused minor damage but no injuries.
