A static caravan remains stuck on a narrow, single-track road in north Wales after being unable to reach its intended destination, forcing local residents to navigate diversions and raising concerns about emergency access.

The caravan was transported by lorry up Llewelyn Road in Tanyfron, Wrexham, on Friday, where it scraped bushes and trees as the vehicle navigated the tight route. North Wales Police confirmed on Monday that the caravan could not be delivered because access to the recipient's property was blocked, leaving the structure stranded on the public highway.

According to local reporting, the recipient initially told police they were unable to move the caravan themselves. In response, North Wales Police said they were arranging to relocate it and would "consider any potential offences in due course."

The situation has created significant disruption for the local community. Wrexham councillor Paul Rogers, representing the Brymbo ward, expressed concern about the knock-on effects, noting that the diversion route passes the local primary school and places additional strain on other roads in the village. He questioned the decision to leave the caravan in place and warned of potential risks to emergency service vehicles.

According to further reporting, Councillor Rogers indicated that the caravan was intended for a field off Llewelyn Road despite there being no planning permission for its placement. Wrexham Council stated it was awaiting instructions from police on how to proceed.

The background to the obstruction extends further back: Wrexham planning records show that an application to site a static caravan for rural-worker accommodation at land adjacent to Vron Farm on Llewelyn Road was refused on 5 October 2026.

One resident described the situation as a "complete and total nightmare," expressing frustration not only at the visual obstruction but also at the disruption caused by the diversion. She raised additional concerns about whether the caravan's weight may have exceeded the limit on a nearby bridge.

What happens next?

North Wales Police indicated they would proceed with arranging the caravan's removal and would assess whether any offences had been committed. However, no specific date for the move or a timeline for the police's decision on potential charges has been announced.
