Police Manage Crowd at Holyrood Protests

Police maintained separation between protestors outside the Scottish Parliament as an anti-immigration rally prompted a counter demonstration on Saturday.

Unite the Clans Scotland organised the protest at Holyrood, calling on "patriots" from across the country to unite.

Activists from various groups, including Stand Up to Racism Scotland, held a counter demonstration along the Royal Mile.

There was a significant police presence, with barriers installed to keep both groups apart. Authorities reported that no arrests were made during the events.

Supporters of Unite the Clans waved saltire and union flags during the rally.

The group, known for organising previous anti-immigration protests, used social media to mobilise its supporters ahead of the event.

"Whether driven by economic concerns, national identity, or the future direction of the country, those attending share a common goal - to demand answers to failed policies and to push for meaningful change."

Counter-Demonstrators Respond

Karen Paton, a member of the Falkirk for All anti-racism group, participated in the counter-protest.

"Unite the Clans are scapegoating the wrong people.
We need to look at the real problems in this country, which is lack of affordable housing, lack of NHS, lack of dental appointments.
They are blaming refugees for all those - those are government problems."
