A 19-year-old motorcyclist died after falling into the sea following a collision on the Great Orme in Llandudno on October 29. According to BBC News, officers from North Wales Police responded to reports of a motorcycle crash on Marine Drive at 22:30 GMT. The man was recovered from the water and airlifted to Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor, where he was pronounced dead.
A multi-agency response involving police, the RNLI and HM Coastguard was mobilised following the incident. Three males, aged between 17 and 18, were arrested and interviewed in connection with the crash but have since been released while the investigation continues.
The Great Orme is a prominent headland in Conwy county that rises to 207 metres (679 feet) above sea level and features sheer cliff faces along its coastline.

Detectives investigating the incident have now renewed their appeal for witnesses and evidence. Since the initial public appeal, police traced a black-coloured vehicle that was believed to be in the area at the time of the crash. According to the Daily Post, the black vehicle travelled along Mostyn Street and North Parade before heading towards the Great Orme at approximately 22:26.
What happened during the rescue?
The RNLI launched both Llandudno lifeboats in response to the emergency. The lifeboat service reported that crews reached the scene approximately five minutes after the motorcyclist entered the water, and a helicopter paramedic was lowered onto the all-weather lifeboat to provide medical assistance.
What evidence are police seeking?
Investigators are appealing for dashcam footage from drivers in Llandudno town centre between 10:00 pm and 10:30 pm on October 29. Police are also requesting footage from anyone who drove Marine Drive from the Toll House around the headland between October 26 and 29.
Det Insp Tim Evans, of the serious collision investigation unit, stated:
I believe that there are people within our local community who have direct information which could assist this investigation and provide answers on what led to the tragic and devastating death of a young man, loved by so many.
Police have urged members of the public to refrain from speculating about the circumstances of the collision or posting comments on social media that could compromise the investigation.
How can people help?
Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, quoting reference 26000888717. The coroner has been notified of the death, and the investigation remains ongoing as officers work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the crash.
