Police Investigate Two Vehicle Fires in Londonderry

Authorities are currently investigating two suspected arson incidents involving vehicles in Londonderry.

The first fire occurred at approximately 03:45 BST on Sunday in Ivy Mead, where reports indicated that two vehicles had been deliberately set on fire outside a residential property.

The Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service (NIFRS) responded promptly to the scene and extinguished the fire.

The residents were inside the house during the incident; however, police confirmed that no injuries were sustained.

A second fire was reported shortly after, around 04:10 BST, involving a car set ablaze outside a licensed establishment on Drumahoe Road.

Firefighters also attended this second scene and successfully brought the fire under control. No injuries were reported in this incident either.

Police Statement and Ongoing Enquiries

Inspector Hughes from the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) indicated a possible connection between the two incidents.

"It is believed the two incidents may be linked."

Investigations to determine the circumstances surrounding both fires are ongoing.

"Enquiries to establish the circumstances of both incidents are ongoing,"
the officer added.

Authorities have urged anyone with information or who witnessed either incident to contact the police to assist with the investigation.
