Murder Investigation Launched Following Death on Church Street
Police and paramedics responded to an incident on Church Street, located off the main street in Welshpool, in the early hours of Sunday at 01:15 BST.
A 22-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a 49-year-old man was found injured on the street and later died despite medical efforts.
Dyfed-Powys Police confirmed that the victim passed away despite the best efforts of paramedics who attended the scene on Church Street, Welshpool, Powys.
The police received the call at 01:16 BST and are seeking to speak with anyone who may have captured footage of the disturbance or the individuals involved.
"Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones," the police force added.
Church Street was temporarily closed while officers conducted inquiries but was reopened later on Sunday afternoon.
Authorities have stated that there will be an increased police presence in the area over the coming days as the investigation continues.
The 22-year-old suspect remains in police custody as inquiries proceed.
