A 50-year-old man has been killed in a two-vehicle collision that occurred in Lisburn on Tuesday morning. James Bingham, who was driving a Mini, was pronounced dead at the scene following the crash on the Belfast Road.
Emergency services responded to the incident at approximately 05:45 BST. The collision involved Mr Bingham's Mini and a Citroen van. The van's driver, a man in his 40s, sustained injuries that required medical attention, though these injuries are not considered life-threatening.
Road closure and reopening
The Belfast Road was temporarily closed in both directions to allow emergency services to attend to the scene and conduct their investigation. The road has since fully reopened to traffic.
Police investigation
Investigators are seeking information from the public to establish the circumstances of the collision. Police have made an appeal for anyone who witnessed the crash or who has dash-cam footage of the incident to come forward and contact them with details.
