The eastbound carriageway of a major Glasgow motorway has reopened after a man fell to his death from a bridge in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Police Scotland attended the scene at M8 Junction 11, in the Cranhill area, just before 03:00 on 30 August following reports that a man had fallen from the bridge onto the eastbound carriageway. The 29-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene, and the road remained closed throughout Sunday morning while officers carried out their investigation into the circumstances of his death.
What diversions were put in place?
While the eastbound carriageway was closed, traffic management measures directed vehicles away from the affected section. Drivers exiting at Junction 11 were instructed to turn left onto Gartloch Road. At the Gartloch roundabout, they were advised to take the second exit onto Auchinlea Road, followed by a right turn onto Westerhouse Road before rejoining the M8 at Junction 10. This diversion route allowed traffic to bypass the closure while investigations proceeded.
