A 56-year-old lorry driver has been killed following a collision on a coastal route in south-west Scotland on Wednesday morning.
The incident took place at approximately 09:30 on the A716 in the vicinity of Drummore, involving a white DAF lorry. Emergency services attended the scene, where the driver was pronounced deceased. Police have not yet released the driver's identity.
Road closure and investigation
The A716 remained shut for a number of hours following the collision to allow emergency responders and investigators to work at the scene. Authorities are now seeking information from members of the public who may have witnessed the crash or captured footage on vehicle dash-cameras.
