Tommy Coyle, a retired Commonwealth lightweight champion, is distributing free school uniforms to families across Hull through his seventh consecutive annual initiative. The event will take place on Thursday 3 September 2026 at TC60 Training Club on Humber Street, running from 10:00 until approximately 13:00 or until supplies are exhausted.
Coyle established his sporting foundation upon retiring from professional boxing in 2019 and has since developed multiple community programmes targeting disadvantaged young people. His efforts have expanded beyond the uniform giveaway to include a mobile boxing gym and other youth-focused initiatives.
"If you're in a position to do good then I believe you should,"Coyle stated when discussing his commitment to community support.

According to local reporting, approximately 400 families received uniforms during the 2025 event, with organisers anticipating similar demand this year. The initiative has grown substantially since its inception—a 2022 report indicated the foundation distributed around 2,000 uniforms in a single year, demonstrating the project's expanding reach.

Why did Coyle start this programme?
The motivation behind the giveaway stems from Coyle's personal experiences during his school years.
"It goes back many years, and there was a form of bullying taking place as certain people didn't have certain makes [of clothes] at school,"he explained. He emphasised that every student deserves to feel included regardless of whether their uniform is branded or unbranded.
The initiative also addresses the financial pressures families face during the school year.
"It's such an expensive time of year. Everything is going up in price. Uniforms are a fortune this year,"Coyle noted. He described the event as
"a bittersweet day – bitter in the sense that so many people need support but sweet in the sense that we can come together to support the community."
