English National Ballet (ENB) has said customer contact information was leaked following a data hack. The east London organisation said it discovered the issue after changing its customer relations service, when new provider Beacon CRM "experienced a cybersecurity incident that involved unauthorised access to Beacon's systems".
ENB told affected customers in an email that it was "so sorry" for the "concerning" incident. It said that although no customer passwords or payment details had been leaked, customers should be cautious of unexpected emails.
A spokesperson for Beacon said the company was taking the data hack "very seriously".
The email from ENB to customers said their email addresses, business phone numbers and business addresses may have been affected by the hack and that it was taking the matter seriously.
"Beacon have informed us that they acted promptly to secure their systems and have notified the relevant authorities," the organisation said.
"While no passwords or payment details were exposed, we recommend remaining cautious of any unexpected emails and always verifying the sender before clicking on links."
The Beacon spokesperson added:
"We've already spoken with all our customers and our focus now is on supporting them as much as possible.
"Beyond our immediate containment actions, Beacon hasn't experienced any service interruption as a result of this incident."
