A teenager has faced formal charges following a violent incident that claimed one life and left two others injured at a residential property in County Tyrone on Saturday, 29 August.
The 16-year-old boy is accused of murdering a 61-year-old man, attempting to murder two additional victims, and making threats to kill. All three offences relate to the same attack at a house on Lisnahull Road in Dungannon.
Emergency responders discovered the body of the deceased man alongside an eight-year-old girl who had sustained injuries during the assault. The child's condition has since stabilised following hospital treatment. A 48-year-old woman, believed to be the man's wife, also suffered injuries in the incident, though medical professionals determined these were not life-threatening.
This case follows an earlier arrest made on suspicion of murder and attempted murder when the incident was first reported. The teenager was taken into custody at that time as the investigation progressed.
What happens next?
The accused is scheduled to appear before Omagh Magistrates' Court on Tuesday to face the charges formally. The court appearance will determine whether the case proceeds to higher courts and what bail or custody arrangements may be imposed.
