Madonna Joins Sabrina Carpenter on Stage at Coachella

Madonna made a surprise appearance at Coachella during Sabrina Carpenter's headline set on Friday night, delighting fans with an unexpected collaboration.

The iconic Queen of Pop joined Carpenter for a duet featuring the hits "Vogue" and "Like A Prayer," as well as a song that appears to be from Madonna's upcoming album.

This performance came after several days of speculation about Madonna's participation in the festival held in the Colorado Desert, California.

Earlier that week, on Wednesday, Madonna officially announced the release of Confessions II, a follow-up to her 2005 album Confessions On A Dance Floor.

After Carpenter completed a rendition of "Juno," Madonna took the stage as the intro to "Vogue" played, with dancers striking poses to set the scene.

Sporting matching blonde hairstyles and lace corsets, the two artists performed the 1990 house classic before moving across the stage to present a new song titled "Bring Your Love," which is reportedly a collaboration featured on Madonna's new album.

"Thank you so much for inviting me on your show,"
said Madonna, known for hits like "Hung Up."

"No thanks needed, Madonna,"
Carpenter responded.
"You can have whatever you want."

Addressing the audience, Madonna reflected on her history with the festival:

"Twenty years ago today, I performed at Coachella - I was in the dance tent and it was the first time I performed Confessions On A Dance Floor: Part I in America and that was such a thrill for me."

"So you can imagine what a thrill it is for me to be back 20 years later... so it's a like a full circle moment you know - very meaningful for me,"
she added before engaging the crowd in a brief discussion about astrology.

Madonna, who stands 5ft 4in tall, then humorously noted it was the first time she had performed with someone shorter than herself, saying,

"Thank you for giving me that experience,"
to Carpenter.

The duo then performed a duet of "Like A Prayer."

Madonna's first appearance at Coachella was in 2006, when she performed Confessions On A Dance Floor at the Sahara Tent rather than the main stage. She returned to the festival in 2015 as a guest during Drake's set, a moment that went viral when she kissed the rapper.

This collaboration with Carpenter occurred during the latter's second week headlining the festival. The previous week, Carpenter was joined on stage by comedian Will Ferrell.
