Cash and Glasspool Progress at Wimbledon
Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool, the top-ranked men's doubles team at the end of 2025, have extended their bid to defend their Wimbledon men's doubles title with a three-set victory that secured their place in the quarter-finals.
The British duo made history in 2025 by becoming the first all-British pair to win the men's doubles title at the All England Club in 89 years, defeating Rinky Hijikata and David Pel in the final.
As the third seeds this year, Cash and Glasspool edged past the Czech-Austrian team of Petr Nouza and Neil Oberleitner with a 6-3, 3-6, 7-5 win. Their next opponents will be the sixth-seeded pair Marcelo Arevalo from El Salvador and Croatia's Mate Pavic.
Other British Contenders Exit
Meanwhile, Britain's Neal Skupski and his American partner Christian Harrison, seeded fifth, were eliminated after a close match against the unseeded Australian-American duo Thanasi Kokkinakis and Aleksandar Kovacevic. The score was 7-6 (7-4), 7-6 (7-5) in favor of Kokkinakis and Kovacevic.
Skupski also faced defeat in the mixed doubles event alongside American Desirae Krawczyk. The pair, who were the sixth seeds and champions in 2021 and 2022, lost 7-6 (7-2), 7-6 (7-5) to Mate Pavic and Hungary's Fanny Stollar.
Additionally, Glasspool, partnering with Canada's Leylah Fernandez in mixed doubles, was ousted after Harrison and China's Zhang Shuai rallied from a set down to win 6-7 (5-7), 6-3, 6-3.
