Programme Error in Wales Women's Six Nations Match

A former Wales captain has called for improvements after the match programme for a Wales Women's Six Nations game featured incorrect names for some of the Scottish players. Instead of listing the current Scotland squad for the tournament, the programme printed the team from last year's Rugby World Cup.

Phillipa Tuttiett, now a rugby pundit and former Wales captain, expressed her disappointment, stating:

"Could you ever fathom that happening in the men's game?"

Neither the Scottish Rugby Union nor the Welsh Rugby Union provided comments on the issue. The problem, which arose ahead of last weekend's match in Cardiff, is believed to be linked to printing deadlines and the unavailability of up-to-date squad information in time for publication.

This error resulted in four players who currently represent Scotland being omitted entirely from the programme. Demi Swann, Emily Coubrough, Holland Bogan, and Rianna Darroch all made their debuts during Scotland's 24-19 victory over Wales at the Principality Stadium last Saturday.

Players' Debut and Reactions

Holland Bogan, a 21-year-old second-row/blindside, described her debut as an "unreal" experience. On the Scrum V podcast, Tuttiett reflected on the significance of the error, saying:

"Could you ever fathom that happening in the men's game? Absolutely not."
"Especially if you're getting your first cap, you would keep your first programme. It's a huge moment and I can only apologise to the three Scotland girls who got their first cap because the squad named in the official programme was the squad from last year's Rugby World Cup."

Tuttiett further acknowledged the affected players:

"Demi Swann, Emily Coubrough, Holland Bogan - I'm so sorry. Nothing will be able to replicate your first programme. But well done. Those particular players played really well."
"Also Rianna Darroch didn't come on but it was her first time on the bench and she didn't come on but she won't have a programme saying her name."
