Wigan Warriors overcame a 14-point deficit against Super League newcomers York Knights to extend their unbeaten start to the season.

York, who had previously stunned defending champions Hull KR on the opening day, silenced the Brick Community Stadium as David Nofoaluma and Paul Vaughan crossed for tries, with Danny Richardson contributing a penalty alongside two conversions.

The turning point came when Ata Hingano was sin-binned following a series of penalties conceded by the Knights. During this period with York reduced to 12 men, Liam Marshall scored two tries for the league leaders.

Adam Keighran’s try and conversion, coupled with a drop-goal from Harry Smith, provided Wigan the margin they needed. Hingano’s late try added some tension to the closing stages.
