Josh Rourke secured a last-minute interception try, granting Wakefield a win in a fluctuating encounter against the Super League's bottom-ranked Huddersfield Giants.
With one minute remaining, Olly Russell executed a drop-goal for Huddersfield, leveling the score and seemingly pushing the game towards overtime. However, Russell then made a pass intercepted by Rourke, who ran it in to clinch the victory for the home team.
Wakefield Trinity initially surged to a 10-0 lead with tries from Tom Johnstone and Mike McMeeken. The visitors responded with tries from Jacob Gagai and Cole Geyer.
Jack Sinfield restored Wakefield's lead before halftime, but shortly after the break, Asher O'Donnell powered over to put Huddersfield ahead again.
A penalty goal by Max Jowitt equalized the score, followed by Rourke's effort at the corner to regain the lead for Wakefield. Adam Swift then scored to level the match once more.
Russell matched Sinfield's drop-goal, but the game concluded with dramatic moments that resulted in another defeat for Huddersfield, marking their ninth consecutive loss.
