Scarlets to Field Callum Woolley in URC Match Against Bulls

Scarlets will hand academy wing Callum Woolley his United Rugby Championship (URC) debut in Saturday's home fixture against the Bulls, scheduled for 19:45 BST.

The 6ft 4in back has made a strong impression playing for Carmarthen Quins in Super Rygbi Cymru and was selected by Great Britain 7s for the Singapore and Perth legs of the World Series in January.

The 20-year-old from Cardigan has been training alongside Wales and British and Irish Lions veteran Liam Williams. Woolley will start on the right wing, replacing Ellis Mee, who suffered an ankle injury during last weekend's defeat to Cardiff.

There is also a change on the opposite wing, with Macs Page starting in place of Tom Rogers, who is currently undergoing return-to-play protocols following a head injury.

In the centre positions, Joe Roberts will start at outside centre (No 13), partnering Eddie James, who shifts to inside centre. Joe Hawkins and Dane Blacker will continue as half-backs.

Within the forward pack, there is a single enforced change: Wales prop Henry Thomas will start at tight-head prop, replacing Archer Holz, who is recovering from a head knock.

Kemsley Mathias and Ryan Elias will continue in the all-Wales front row, while Sam Lousi maintains his lock partnership with Max Douglas.

The back row remains unchanged with Taine Plumtree, captain Fletcher Anderson, and Jarrod Taylor. Dan Davis, another breakaway forward, is poised to make his 100th Scarlets appearance if he comes off the bench.

Additional forward cover includes Marnus van der Merwe, Josh Morse, Harri O'Connor, and Jac Price. Archie Hughes, Carwyn Leggatt-Jones, and Ioan Jones provide backline cover.

Several Scarlets players remain unavailable due to injury, including Josh Macleod, Sam Costelow, Jake Ball, Alec Hepburn, Will Evans, and Dom Kossuth.

Team News and Player Updates

Wales flanker Josh Macleod recently signed a new deal with Scarlets.

Springbok Marnus van der Merwe expressed his pride in fulfilling his dream of playing for Scarlets.

Interim director of rugby Nigel Davies commented on the team's discipline issues affecting performance.

Scarlets Aim to Bounce Back After Cardiff Defeat

Scarlets enter the game positioned 14th in the URC table, seeking to recover from a late collapse against Cardiff, where they conceded 21 points in the final 10 minutes.

"Last weekend's result hurt, but the response this week has been exactly what you want to see," said Scarlets interim director of rugby Nigel Davies.
"There's been honesty, energy and a real determination to move forward together.
"We are very clear as a group that our discipline hasn't been where it needs to be and that sits with me. It's my responsibility to ensure we get that right because it's impacting our performance and results."

Bulls Seek Victory to Maintain Play-Off Hopes

The Bulls, currently eighth in the URC standings, arrive at Parc y Scarlets needing a win to sustain their play-off ambitions.

"The Bulls bring a big, physical challenge, but these are the games you want to be involved in," added Davies.
"We've shown before that we can compete with them and we've got the ability within this group to do that again.
"There's a nice balance to the side. Some exciting young players get their chance and experience against a challenging Bulls side - blended with enough experience and leadership to deliver the performance we're after.
"For us, these games are about standards. What we produce now sets the tone for everything that comes next."
