Jenny Shin survived a tricky final round to hold off fellow South Korean A-Lim Kim and win the Women's Scottish Open at Dundonald. Shin had led by five shots after two rounds, but needed a three-over-par 75 to finish on nine under after hitting three bogeys on the front nine.
How did the final leaderboard finish?
Shin ended on nine under, two shots clear of Kim, who carded a fine 68 to finish on seven under. Thailand's Pajaree Anannarukarn was a further two strokes back in third on five under.
The final leaderboard showed Shin at -9; A Kim (Kor) at -7; P Anannarukarn (Tha) at -5; E Henseleit (Ger) at -4; L Coughlin (US) and M Yamashita (Jpn) at -3; and C Wannasaen (Tha) at -2.
Selected others included L Maguire (Ire) at -1, N Korda (US) at +2 and C Hull (Eng) at +10.
What did the win mean for Jenny Shin?
It was Shin's first title in more than 10 years and only her second on the LPGA Tour in 368 attempts. She was in tears after the final putt dropped on the 18th and was doused with water and champagne by a group of friends.
"My first one didn't really feel like a win at the time," said Shin, whose debut title came at the Volunteers of America Texas Shootout in 2016.
"I didn't feel like I deserved it. It felt very accidental.
"But this one definitely feels a lot different. This one feels like I earned it. I worked hard for it."
How did the other leading players fare?
Only 10 players broke par after four rounds, with England's Charley Hull finishing on 10 over after a round of 74. American Nelly Korda, who has won two of the four majors played this year, went round in 69 for a share of 16th on two over.
The final major of the year, the Women's Open at Royal Lytham and St Annes in Lancashire, starts on Thursday.
"We experienced everything this week - sunshine, a little bit of warmth, and sideways rain, gusty winds, but that's a given out here," said Korda.
"So [I am] just trying to get into the mindset for next week. There's so many things that are going on during your shot that you really have to stay committed."
