Red Bull driver Isack Hadjar will compete at this week's Azerbaijan Grand Prix after sitting out the previous three races due to a wrist injury sustained while training.
The 21-year-old French driver was sidelined following the races held in the Netherlands, Monza and Madrid, during which New Zealand's Liam Lawson deputised for him in the cockpit.
Red Bull confirmed in a statement that Hadjar has achieved a
"full recovery"and will resume his position for the Baku event, scheduled to take place from 24-26 September. The team expressed its appreciation for Lawson's contribution during the interim period.
"The team would like to sincerely thank Liam for his professionalism, dedication and hard work over the past three races,"Red Bull said.
"Stepping in under challenging circumstances, he delivered some impressive performances and made a valuable contribution to the team."
Lawson's Interim Performance
During his three-race stint, the 24-year-old New Zealander demonstrated competitive pace. He secured seventh place at Zandvoort and sixth at Madrid, though he failed to accumulate championship points after finishing 14th at Monza.
Following Hadjar's return, Lawson will move back to Red Bull's junior outfit, Racing Bulls, where he will continue his development within the team's driver pipeline.
Hadjar's Championship Standing
Hadjar, who was elevated to Red Bull's senior team in 2026, will resume his campaign alongside four-time world champion Max Verstappen. The Frenchman currently occupies eighth position in the drivers' championship with 71 points accumulated across the season to date.
His return to the cockpit comes as the championship enters a critical phase, with the Azerbaijan Grand Prix representing an opportunity for him to rebuild momentum after his three-race absence.
