Temperatures in parts of the north-east have reached as high as 38C. In response, Fifa has implemented hydration breaks during matches to allow players to cool down.
The BBC's Nada Tawfik spoke with fans at the New York New Jersey stadium, the site of the finals, which notably lacks air conditioning. Despite the heatwave, supporters are enduring the conditions to cheer on their teams.
