2025-26 Season Review

Swansea City concluded the 2025-26 Championship season in 11th place.

New Appointments in Recruitment and Goalkeeping

The club has appointed Jay Lefevre as the new head of recruitment and Pedro Pereira as head of goalkeeping.

Before the end of the 2025-26 campaign, it was announced that Martyn Margetson, the former goalkeeping coach in his second tenure at Swansea, would depart the club this summer.

Pedro Pereira, a Portuguese coach, was most recently the goalkeeping coach at Austrian club Red Bull Salzburg, where he previously collaborated with current Swansea manager Vitor Matos.

Pereira's coaching career also includes positions at Al Sadd in Qatar and Famalicao in Portugal.

Jay Lefevre's Role and Background

Lefevre joined Swansea from Celtic in December 2025 as chief scout, shortly after Matos was appointed head coach, succeeding Alan Sheehan.

The club commended Lefevre's performance in his prior role, stating he:

"impressed everyone with the clarity and calibre of his work"
and that he was responsible for "leading our preparations for this summer window over recent months".

Staff Departures and Statements

Assistant head coach Ryan Maye has also left Swansea by mutual consent. Maye had joined the club from Premier League side Aston Villa in December.

The club issued a statement expressing gratitude:

"We thank Ryan for his efforts during his time at Swansea City and wish him and his family all the very best for the future."

New Sporting Director Appointment

These changes follow the appointment of Ben Stevens as Swansea's new sporting director earlier in June.

Stevens was previously assistant sporting director at Crystal Palace since 2024 and had spent ten years as the Premier League club's head of performance and recruitment analysis.

In his new recruitment role, Lefevre will report directly to Stevens.
