Multiple supporters fell through a structural failure in the away stand during a Norwegian top-flight fixture at Romssa Arena on Sunday, with at least one person requiring hospital treatment. The incident occurred at Tromso's stadium, located 200 miles within the Arctic Circle, during a match between the home side and visiting Bodo/Glimt.
According to BBC Sport, the match was halted just before half-time when Bodo goalkeeper Nikita Haikin alerted the referee to the problem. Bodo/Glimt's press officer Simen Pedersen confirmed to Reuters that "up to five people fell through the stands."
One Bodo supporter, Andrine Moen, described the moment of collapse to local newspaper Verdens Gang.
"We stood and bounced to a supporter song, then the floor gave way,"Moen said.
"It cracked in two in the row in front of us. There were at least two people who fell through the floor, but we don't know how far they fell or how many fell in total."
Following the incident, the remaining Bodo supporters were relocated to alternative sections of the ground before play resumed. The match took place amid heavy rainfall at Norway's northernmost Eliteserien venue.
The fixture remained goalless at the moment of the stand failure. After the game restarted, Bodo forward Ola Brynhildsen scored twice to secure a 2-0 victory for the league leaders. Bodo currently sits atop the standings in a tight title contest with Viking, with the Eliteserien season scheduled to conclude during the first week of December.
