Jack Grealish was excluded from Everton's Carabao Cup fixture against Newcastle United on Thursday following what the club described as a breach of club discipline. According to BBC Sport, Everton did not elaborate on the specific nature of the infraction, though sources indicate the England winger missed a training session.

The 31-year-old is currently on loan at Everton from Premier League side Manchester City. This marks his second consecutive season with the Merseyside club under a similar temporary arrangement, having completed a season-long loan deal in early September 2026.

During his previous spell with Everton last season, Grealish made 20 appearances, contributing two goals and six assists before a foot injury ended his campaign in January. He has since returned to the club and has made five Premier League appearances this season, along with one Carabao Cup outing in the third round victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Before joining Everton on loan, Grealish featured in Manchester City's pre-season schedule. He appeared as a substitute in City's 3-0 Community Shield loss to Arsenal at Wembley in August, and also came off the bench during City's 2-1 Premier League opening-day win over Bournemouth.

The former Aston Villa player, who moved to Manchester City for £100 million in 2021, has struggled to establish himself as a regular starter since his move to the Etihad Stadium. His loan spells at Everton have provided him with opportunities to gain consistent playing time in the Premier League.

Grealish's exclusion from the Newcastle fixture represents a disciplinary measure by Everton manager Sean Dyche, signalling the club's commitment to maintaining standards within the squad. The incident comes during a period when Everton has been active in the transfer market, with the club having recently completed several squad adjustments.
