Barnet Football Club has issued a strong condemnation of racist abuse directed at midfielder Isiah Noel-Williams following the club's 1-1 draw with Oldham Athletic. According to BBC Sport, the 23-year-old player was targeted with a racist image posted in response to content on his Instagram account after the match.

In a statement posted on X, Barnet declared:

Barnet FC condemns in the strongest terms the racist abuse directed at Isiah Noel-Williams on Instagram following today's game. Isiah has our full and unwavering support. There is no place for racism in football, online or anywhere in society.

Noel-Williams, the son of former Watford, Burnley and Stoke striker Gifton, joined League Two Barnet from National League South club Hemel Hempstead Town during the summer transfer window. The midfielder was sent off during the 70th minute of the match at the Hive for committing a foul. Oldham Athletic subsequently scored an equalising goal in the 94th minute to secure the 1-1 draw.

Pattern of Online Abuse in Football

The incident involving Noel-Williams reflects a broader pattern of racist abuse targeting footballers on social media platforms. Tottenham Hotspur condemned racist abuse aimed at defender Kevin Danso following a late error in their 2-2 draw with Brighton, with the club reporting the abuse to authorities. Similarly, Liverpool condemned racist abuse targeting defender Ibrahima Konate online following a Champions League match incident, urging social media platforms to take immediate action.

Beyond online abuse, racist incidents have also occurred at match venues. Police investigated alleged racist abuse directed at Swansea winger Ji-sung Eom during the club's 1-0 Championship win at Millwall, with officials halting the match for seven minutes in the 65th minute to address the incident.
