Shooting at Toronto Street Festival Leaves Two Dead

At least two individuals have died following a shooting incident at a street festival in Toronto.

Police in the Canadian city received initial reports of an active shooter on St Clair Avenue at approximately 20:12 local time (01:12 BST), where a salsa festival was underway.

Authorities discovered five victims with gunshot wounds at the scene. Two of these individuals were pronounced dead on site.

"Police said they had secured the scene, but urged the public to stay away from the area, where a large police presence would remain. They added that more information would follow."

St Clair Avenue, situated in midtown Toronto, is known for its shops and restaurants.

The annual Salsa on St Clair Latin festival, a celebration featuring live music and dance performances, was scheduled to take place between 11 and 12 July.
