Cannabis Plants Seized in Dumfries Town Centre

Cannabis plants valued at nearly £1 million were uncovered in a property located in Dumfries town centre, according to Police Scotland.

The discovery occurred when officers conducted a search of a building on Friars Vennel on Sunday afternoon.

Police Scotland reported that the plants have an estimated street value of £954,000, describing the seizure as a "very significant recovery."

Arrest and Legal Proceedings

A 47-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with the find. He is scheduled to appear at Dumfries Sheriff Court, and a report will be forwarded to the procurator fiscal.

Police Statement on Drug Enforcement

Detective Sergeant Allister Queen commented on the operation:

"This is a very significant recovery and an example of our efforts to disrupt the activity of illegal drugs in Scotland.
Drugs cause misery in our communities and the public has an important role to play in helping Police Scotland target those responsible for the cultivation, supply and sale of illegal substances"
