Emergency services responded to a residential fire on Leven Road in Kinlochleven on Tuesday, where the body of a man was subsequently discovered inside the property.
Fire crews were alerted to the blaze at approximately 11:00 on Tuesday. Police Scotland closed the road and arranged the evacuation of several neighbouring homes as a precautionary measure.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service deployed six appliances and two high-reach vehicles to tackle the fire, which was eventually extinguished. The scale of the response underscores the intensity of the incident and the resources required to bring it under control.
Investigation underway
Following the discovery of the body within the property, Police Scotland confirmed that next of kin have been notified. However, formal identification of the deceased has not yet been completed.
A Police Scotland spokesperson stated:
"The body of a man was found within and next of kin are aware. Formal identification has yet to take place."
Authorities have indicated that inquiries are continuing to establish the full circumstances surrounding both the fire and the death. Police have not yet disclosed whether the death is being treated as suspicious or provided details about the cause of the fire.
