The victim, a man in his 20s, was discovered in the car park of the Beggars Bush on Chester Road at approximately 02:00 BST. Emergency services attended the scene, but he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Detectives have begun gathering evidence and conducting interviews with those present. A substantial crowd had assembled at the venue for an organised event, according to West Midlands Police, and investigators are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or has relevant footage.

The Sainsbury's supermarket adjacent to the pub on Chester Road has been closed to the public as police maintain an active presence in the vicinity. Cordons have been erected around sections of the retail premises as the investigation continues.
