Michael Davies has been found guilty of murdering his wife after she was discovered slumped over a bed at their residence, with her husband present in the property.
Officers responded to the address on the night of 18 April following reports expressing concern for the welfare of two individuals. Upon arrival, they found the body of Tracey Davies. Michael Davies was taken into custody immediately at the scene.
Davies, aged 58 and residing in Cefn Cribwr, Bridgend, had previously entered a plea of guilty to manslaughter but contested the murder charge, claiming diminished responsibility as a defence. The jury rejected this argument and returned a guilty verdict on the more serious charge.
A provisional determination regarding the cause of death was established during an inquest, with pressure applied to the neck identified as the mechanism. Davies is scheduled to appear for sentencing on 2 October.

In a statement released following the conviction, members of Tracey's family paid tribute to her character and impact on those around her. They described her as an "extraordinary woman" and a "devoted mother" to whom her children were her "greatest pride". The family characterised her as "a cherished sister, a loyal friend, and a radiant presence whose laughter could light up any room". They concluded by noting that "her legacy lives on in the love she gave and the lives she changed", reflecting on the enduring influence she had on her wider circle.
