A significant fire has erupted at a waste transfer station in Neasden, north-west London, forcing the suspension of multiple transport services in the area. The London Fire Brigade (LFB) responded to the incident with a substantial deployment of personnel and equipment to tackle the blaze at the facility on Hannah Close.
The LFB received its first emergency call at 11:34 on 28 August 2026, with more than 70 calls reporting the fire in total. A total of 125 firefighters have been mobilised to the scene, supported by 20 fire engines. According to the London Fire Brigade's incident page, the response was ongoing as of 12:46 BST on the same day. The industrial facility, identified as the LondonEnergy waste transfer station, measures approximately 100 metres by 150 metres (161,400 square feet).
The smoke plumes from the fire have been visible from considerable distances, including from central London. However, staff working at the Amazon site were evacuated as a precautionary measure given the proximity of the blaze and the volume of smoke. The waste transfer station sits adjacent to the Amazon warehouse and is located near IKEA in the Wembley area, according to reports from the scene.
