Six-Day Strike Announced by Resident Doctors

Resident doctors in England have announced plans to undertake a six-day strike next month following unsuccessful negotiations between the British Medical Association (BMA) and the government.

The BMA stated that the decision to strike was prompted by the government's insufficient response to their demands regarding pay and concerns over staffing shortages.

This upcoming strike represents the longest continuous walkout in the ongoing dispute, which has persisted for over two months since the start of the year.

The strike is scheduled to commence at 07:00 GMT on 7 April and will mark the 15th industrial action since March 2023.

The BMA said it was taking action as the government had not done enough to address their pay claims and concerns about job shortages.
The strike will be the longest single walkout of the long-running dispute and comes after more than two months of talks since the new year.
