Thousands of music fans celebrated at Radio 2 in the Park festival in Stirling over a weekend featuring performances by Chaka Khan, Lulu, Texas, Simple Minds and many more established artists, with Stirling Castle providing a dramatic backdrop.

Thousands of music enthusiasts gathered at Radio 2 in the Park, a major festival event held at the base of Stirling Castle, for a weekend of live entertainment and performances across multiple days.

The festival commenced on Friday evening with a DJ set that energised the crowd with classic singalong anthems and crowd-pleasing favourites. Radio 2 presenters Sara Cox, Gary Davies, DJ Spoony, Michelle Visage and Rylan were among those hosting the opening night festivities.

Saturday's headline performances

Saturday featured a diverse lineup of established artists performing to the assembled crowds. Chaka Khan served as the day's main headliner, delivering a headline performance that drew significant audience engagement.

The Saturday bill also included Scottish vocalist Lulu, who performed as one of the day's principal acts, alongside rock band Texas, soul artist Emile Sande, singer-songwriter Jack Savoretti, 1980s new wave group ABC, Irish rock band The Script, and soul performer Alexandra Burke.

Sunday's closing performances

Simple Minds were announced as Sunday's headlining act, bringing the festival to a close with their performance. The final day's programme also featured appearances from Scottish rock band Deacon Blue, funk-rock ensemble Level 42, pop group Blue, alternative rock band Cast, singer James Blunt and pop duo Appleton.

Festival atmosphere and entertainment

Throughout the weekend, veteran DJ Tony Blackburn was among the entertainers keeping crowds engaged between main stage performances. The festival setting, positioned directly beneath Stirling Castle, provided a distinctive backdrop for the event, creating a memorable atmosphere for attendees who danced, celebrated and enjoyed the varied musical offerings across the three-day programme.
