Rail Disruption Between London and Luton

Damaged electrical wires are causing significant disruption to rail services between London St Pancras and Luton Airport Parkway.

ThamesLink reported that damage to overhead wires at Elstree and Borehamwood in Hertfordshire has resulted in cancellations and delays of up to 30 minutes on some services.

The disruption is affecting trains operating on the London St Pancras International to Nottingham, Sheffield, Luton Airport Parkway, and Corby routes.

The rail operator indicated that the disruption is expected to continue until the end of the day.

East Midlands Railway services are also impacted by the issue, which is currently under investigation by Network Rail.

Passengers holding tickets for affected services can use them on East Midlands Railway, which plans to stop Intercity services at Luton Airport Parkway, Bedford, and Wellingborough.

Additionally, East Midlands Railway will operate a shuttle service between Kettering and Corby in both directions. Passengers can transfer at Kettering for connections heading south.

Those travelling to Sheffield, Chesterfield, Derby, Nottingham, and Leicester are also advised that alternative travel arrangements are available.

Full details of alternative routes can be found on the ThamesLink website.
