M6 Closure Following Lorry Crash

The M6 motorway remains closed in both directions after a lorry collided with the central reservation barrier and overturned.

The closure affects the stretch between junction one near Rugby, Warwickshire, and the Catthorpe interchange in Leicestershire. The incident occurred shortly before 17:00 BST on Sunday, according to National Highways.

Emergency Response and Ongoing Investigation

A National Highways spokesperson confirmed that all emergency services, including the air ambulance, attended the scene. Highways officers have been assisting with traffic management efforts.

On Monday, National Highways stated that police investigations and vehicle recovery operations are still underway due to the severity of the damage, preventing the reopening of the motorway.

A spokesperson added that officers are working to alleviate congestion by turning vehicles around from the rear of the queue and facilitating motorists' safe and efficient exit from the affected area.

Traffic Management and Diversions

Diversion routes have been established for drivers traveling on the A14 westbound, the M1 northbound, and the M6 southbound.

"If this incident impacts on your planned route, please allow extra journey time," National Highways said.
"Plan ahead and you may wish to re-route or even delay your journey."
