M25 Closures Due to Two Lorry Fires

Sections of the M25 motorway in Essex have been closed following two separate lorry fires. The anti-clockwise carriageway is shut between junction 28 for Brentwood and junction 27 for Epping due to a vehicle fire, according to National Highways.

"Due to the intensity of the blaze, the closure is likely to extend in the morning peak travel period,"

Emergency services, including Essex Police, are present at the scenes, with officers from National Highways assisting in managing traffic flow.

The fire between junctions 27 and 26 was reported at approximately 03:05 BST. At the time of the report, the lorry was described as "well alight," National Highways said.

"Fire crews will continue working to extinguish the blaze and make the vehicle safe before recovery can begin,"

Authorities have warned drivers to anticipate delays in the affected areas. Following extinguishing the fires, specialist recovery teams will be required to remove the heavy goods vehicles. Subsequent inspections of the carriageway and infrastructure will assess any fire-related damage.

"Specialist recovery will then be required to remove the HGV, followed by inspections of the carriageway and infrastructure for any fire-related damage.
Repairs or clean-up may be needed before the road can reopen. At this stage, no reopening time is available."
