Ticket Registration Opens for Glasgow 2026 Opening Ceremony

Individuals interested in purchasing tickets for the opening ceremony of the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games will have the opportunity to register their interest soon.

The ceremony is scheduled to take place at the OVO Hydro on 23 July and will be held indoors for the first time in the history of the event.

Due to anticipated high demand, prospective attendees must register in advance to be eligible to buy tickets. Registration opens at 12:00 and closes at 23:59 on 26 May.

Successful applicants will be selected through a random draw and notified on 1 June. Those selected will then have the chance to purchase up to four tickets starting the following day.

Ticket prices for adults range from £45 to £195, with concession rates also available.

The opening ceremony will mark the beginning of 10 days of competition and will feature athletes representing 74 nations and territories. A cast of 600 performers is expected to participate.

George Black, chair of Glasgow 2026, commented on the significance of the ceremony, stating:

"Gathered in The Hydro, we will share a story of how this city has contributed to the world."
"By entering the ticket draw, we want to give people the opportunity to watch the live action unfold as the Commonwealth comes together in one place to mark the start of the Games."

Louisa Mahon, chief marketing and ceremonies officer, described the event as a "fast-paced, immersive live experience."

Tom Davies, executive producer for ceremonies, noted that details about the show are being kept confidential at this stage.

"We're working alongside a brilliant team who have designed and delivered incredible creative for some of the world's biggest ceremonies, concerts, and one-off special events," he said.
"Opening Ceremonies ignite a spirit and an atmosphere that you must be there for."

Organisers have clarified that registering for the ballot does not guarantee ticket allocation. Any remaining tickets will be made available in a subsequent sale.
