Rose Sets New Tournament Record with Commanding Victory

England's Justin Rose secured a commanding victory at the Farmers Insurance Open, setting a new tournament record with his score. The 2019 champion held a six-shot lead entering the final round on Torrey Pines' South Course and maintained control throughout the last 18 holes.

Rose completed the final round with a two-under-par 70, finishing seven strokes ahead of the competition at 23 under par. This victory marks his 13th PGA Tour title. The 45-year-old, who last won at the FedEx St Jude Championship in August, recorded birdies on the sixth, eighth, and ninth holes, with a single bogey at the 12th.

The previous tournament record was 22 under par, held jointly by Tiger Woods (1999) and George Burns (1987). Additionally, Rose became the oldest player to achieve a wire-to-wire victory on the PGA Tour since Rocco Mediate in October 2010, who was 47 at the time.

"This has been a huge win and to start the season with a win is amazing," said Rose.
"I knew 23 under was a record. I've grown the lead each day so I wanted to finish seven ahead rather than six.
"I had my own little mini goals down the stretch which kept me focused, which was key and I managed my game well.
"I'm still loving it and working hard and do believe there is some good stuff ahead of me."

Other Notable Performances

American Pierceson Coody posted the best round of the day with a seven-under-par 65, tying for second place alongside South Korea's Si Woo Kim and Japan's Ryo Hisatsune, both of whom shot 69. American Jake Knapp and Germany's Stephan Jaeger finished one stroke further back.

Five-time major champion Brooks Koepka, competing in his first PGA Tour event since departing LIV Golf, ended tied for 56th place after a final round of 70.
